5 FREE Meditations for: When You Feel Behind

5 Free Meditations When you Feel Behind Blog Image

Ever find the hunt for your next guided meditation so exhausting and frustrating that you settle on the same random link you found in the dark corners of YouTube?

Well, now you won't have to.

I am in loveeee with my meditation practice. It’s truly the thing that I crave and feel sort of angsty about if I’ve skipped a day. If you’re into meditation, you probably have tried an app or two, maybe Headspace, or Calm’s trial but searching for a meditation that is free, relevant and high quality is a task of its own.

Scrolling through hundreds of free meditations on these apps is NOT IDEAL -  it cuts into my precious meditation time and my morning and night routines. It’s challenging and frustrating to find the gems in the sea of free options but now you won’t have to.

“Top Meditations” is an ongoing series where we highlight meditations that are not only FREE but also handpicked to be highly rated, highly SPECIFIC and turn-key for you when you are facing the big feelings of life.

This post features meditations that will support you when you feeling behind. P.S. It happens to the best of us and I feel behind allll the time BUT I know how to get out of it in a hurry. Operating at this frequency is NOT a VIBE. Stop moping in your feels too too much and DIG in to these amazing guided meditations to restore your high vibration.

I promise, you will feel comforted that you are right where you need to be. Grab a cozy throw, light up your crackling candle and settle into one of these tracks to simmer your emotions and get back on track.

01. Learning to Honour Our Rhythms And Cycles by Sarah Blondin

Duration: ~10 min

Having Sarah Blondin in your ears is the best therapy. She is a maternal, spiritual-force to be reckoned with and if you need a loving talk that inspires you to accept your rhythms, listen to this guided meditation. It’s more on the side of a gentle pep-talk but it’s so impactful and comforting to hear. I highly recommend it if you are needing some philosophical wisdom and someone to really hold space for you.

Duration: ~18 min

If a meditation was a spa treatment, this would be IT. Many times, when we feel behind, there is a direct correlation to an experience that has caused us to compare ourselves to others. Whether it’s consuming too much social media or attending family gatherings, comparison can only lead to feeling like there is something utterly wrong with YOU when, in reality, you are 100% just fine where you are. Cleansing yourself with compassion is the goal. This 20 min track resets your energy and makes you feel at ease with where you are at.

It’s one of the first meditations of Fleurs’ that I’ve listened to but certainly not the last (in fact, just go peek at 04. below!)

03. Slow Down & Accept by Meg James

Duration: ~14 min

This meditation is as gentle as can be. If you are interested in getting a better understanding of how your body registers your mental discomfort of “falling behind”, this guided session is for you. Uncovering the somatic symptoms of your negative thought patterns can help you realize that its unhelpful and as we know, your body keeps the score. You will only progress and GROW when your body is at ease. Gaining awareness of physical symptoms help you accept where you are in your journey.

04. Resting in Self Acceptance by Fleur Chambers

Duration: ~18 min

If you need deep rest, this guided session is perfect for you. The body scan Fluer leads is ideal for beginners and allows you to release tension from even the smallest parts of your body. If you are feeling a bit behind, put on this track and your mood will instantly transform from a worry to a contentment. I highly recommend her meditations as her voice and message will recalibrate your nervous system.

05. Releasing the Scarcity Mindset by Kelly Botham

Duration: ~10 min

This potent meditation uses the power of affirmations to transition you out of a lack and scarcity mindset. Often when we feel “behind” it’s because we think there is not enough time, money, success, or recognition that is being delivered to us. BUT, you are the one that can change that perspective in the first place. This guided meditation will help you affirm that you have enough of everything right now because whatever is happening is the education that is needed for you to grow. I highly encourage listening to this if you are fond of affirmations and need a quick pick-me-up.

    Stop Shaming Yourself

“We cannot grow when we are in shame, and we can’t use shame to change ourselves or others”― Brene Brown

Reinforcing the belief that you are “behind” is self-shaming—It’s the opposite of self-love and will halt you in that state of “feeling behind” for good. Feeding this vicious cycle is not the solution so get out of that mental space as fast as you can. Instead, staying in a state of joy, abundance and acceptance will reinforce to your body that your current state is an assignment that you must get comfortable in. Once you accept your current state, your next assignment will be revealed. Have patience, my friend. You don’t want to get ahead of yourself. You are dealt what you can handle.

These meditations above span the spectrum as far as approaches however, they ALL are incredible for getting your mind and body out of the negative mindspace of feeling behind.

Don’t waste any precious energy digging through a gazillion options to find the perfect meditation. We've done the legwork for you. Bookmark this list, revisit it whenever you need, and share it with others who could benefit!
